Over the past four years Ollie has plied his trade as a nightscape photographer, specialising in producing professional quality and diverse images of landscapes by night; his main body of work now emphasises on the hours after dark. This challenging profession sees him trek around the UK, Europe and further afield working on location in challenging outdoor environments through the dark unsociable hours of the night.
Graduating with a degree in architectural design has also seen him work in architectural practices as a designer, enabling him to undertake commercial architectural photography commissions for a range of clientele, including high street banks.
Two years ago, Ollie became the first landscape photographer in the UK to offer nightscape tuition in the form of photographic workshops that incorporated the possibility of photographing a section of the Milky Way (clear skies permitting). The tuition focuses on using the night sky as a backdrop whilst creating a landscape photography image; also referred to as landscape astrophotography.
Having practiced landscape photography for most of his adult life, becoming semi-professional in 2005, and concentrating on producing portfolios for stock photography agencies, Ollie was eventually able to work full-time as a freelance landscape photographer and spent two years living in, travelling and exploring Greece. He has lived and worked in a number of UK counties; currently residing in Dorset when actually at home.
Ollie has provided images and artwork to commercial and private clients across the globe, is widely published, and has won a major international award (Velux Lovers of Light 2015) for his photography, as well as having his work shortlisted several times within high profile worldwide landscape photography competitions (to include 2014 and 2015 Outdoor Photographer of the Year, and International Garden Photographer of the Year 2015).
Ollie wears the VISION VS4 due to the ultimate readability, comfort and chronograph functions which come in handy when out on long shoots.
