Travel guide | Christchurch Edition

We may not have travelled overseas a whole lot recently but that just gives us the perfect excuse to explore all the hidden gems that the UK has to offer.

As you may already know, Nite was born back in 2003 and to this day our headquarters proudly remain in the idyllic town of Christchurch. That is why our first travel guide begins in our very own hometown.

The Nite community is made up of strong adventurers just like you, so in order to unleash your free-spirited nature, we’ve pulled together a selection of activities that not only you, your friends and family will love but also where our watches will thrive.

Life’s a Beach

We are spoilt by the vast number of magnificent beaches on our doorstep. White sand and crisp waters only mean one thing. An excellent place to explore! Some of our favourite beaches close by are:

1.) Hengistbury head – A fantastic spot for an epic photo as well as a pleasant walk suitable for all.

2.) Avon Beach – An Incredible open view out to sea with lovely beach huts. Great for families with small children and plenty of opportunity for watersports.

3.) Branksome Beach – Stunning blue flag beach offering the freedom to walk along the coast with what feels like no end in sight. Miles of sand sea and blue skies (hopefully)

Whether you like to wrap up warm and take a long brisk walk followed by a warming hot chocolate or want to spend a morning running across the sand, our watches make the ideal companion for the adventure that awaits.

Seas the day

For this nautical themed activity you may need a little encouragement first! If you can brave the cold (we of course know you can) why not get out on the open water? Take a paddle board and the world is your oyster. With several paddle board hot spots nearby including Christchurch harbour you can be sure to find the right location where a day full of excitement is ensured.

Next up swimming! Wild swimming clubs are increasing in popularity so if you want to take up a new freeing hobby why not join a club? Take a look at this list to find a group near you. Our Alpha with a 300m water resistance would be the greatest and most useful piece of equipment to have by your side.

Lastly, have you got on the wind surfing band waggon yet? If you haven’t tried it before you need to. It is a great sport for beginners and perfect if you want to bring the kids along. There are a few places dotted around that hire out all the equipment and offer tuition

Remember to keep an eye out for our brand ambassador Jim Crossley on the water. He is a great speed windsurfer – you might even be able to pick up a few tips!

Just you and the open road

We have collated some of the best tracks and trails where our team love to spend their free time. Plus, they are all in easy reach from Christchurch. If you like a casual stroll or enjoy pushing your limits, we’ve got it covered:

South West Coastal Path: The UK’s ultimate challenge for the long distance hiker. A 630-mile adventure around the coastline of the southwest peninsula.

The New Forest: We are big fans of the New Forest as a whole. You can spend days exploring so you might need to make a few trips or make it your next holiday destination.

Blackwater Tall Trees trail in the New Forest: This short trail with its small but nationally important collection of trees from all over the world needs to be part of your itinerary. This walk takes you past majestic conifers planted in the 1850s, some of the oldest Douglas fir trees in Britain and includes views of two enormous redwoods.

Studland to Old Harry Rocks:This easy 1-2 hour walk is dog friendly and provides breath-taking views of the Jurassic coast where unique rock formations await on this circular walk. Make sure to pack the camera!

Hurst Castle: With heaps of open space for children to explore and fantastic views of the Isle of Wight, Hurst Castle should definitely be on the tick list for visitors to this area.

Fancy taking a night time hike? No problem! All our watches benefit from the incredible Tritium illumination that is completely self-sufficient and provides a constant glow all through the night. You’ll never get left in the dark again.

How could we forget the most important part? Food!

If you are looking for a cool and relaxed place to grab some great takeaway coffee and food, you can’t beat Coast. Surf + Moto coffee shop. Make sure to check them out on Instagram too. You won’t be able to say no to their homemade pizzas.

For somewhere that offers an opportunity to get dressed up and perhaps show off your Icon timepiece look no further than The Jetty. Dining on the waters edge is quite an experience and we can’t think of a better way to end a busy day.

Finally, The Noisy Lobster which is quickly becoming a local classic. While visiting Avon Beach, a stop at this place is a MUST. Famous for their fresh local produce and stunning views, you can’t go wrong.

So, there we have it, our first travel guide is complete. Make sure to tag us in your photos, we would love to see you and your Nite watch enjoying the great outdoors soon. If you think we’ve missed something incredible please let us know!
