How to choose the perfect watch.
With Christmas round the corner the time has come to start pulling your wish list together. Christmas is a time for giving but who said you can only give to other people? We are on hand with our top tips to finding your perfect watch (for them or you) that’s just as ready to take on 2021 as you are.
1.) Set a budget
This can be a quick way to help you filter down and find the watch for you. If you have a budget of £300 our MX10 (starting at £275) offers a range of features and remarkable Tritium illumination just like all our watches. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, yet reliable piece for someone who thrives outdoors then look no further.
If you have a higher budget for someone who not only lives for an adventure but also has endless style, our Alpha would be a great choice. Focusing on the perfect balance of functionality vs style our Alpha (£400) could be the light at the end of the tunnel.
2.) Let’s talk watch straps
With a great selection of alternative watch straps to choose from it can be a daunting task to make the right decision but remember, you can always change the strap. So, if you grow tired of the one you originally chose or would like a different strap to take you from day to night, that is absolutely fine!
The main thing to consider is how will the person you are buying for be using their watch. If they ultimately need something to take them seamlessly from the beach to the boardroom, we recommend a steel bracelet. It is classic, smart and stylish.
If they have a job or hobby which means they are sweating often or in and out of water regularly you may want to start with our polymer straps. They are going to be more comfortable on the wrist yet still offer a welcome element of style.
3.) Consider the person
If you’re buying for someone else, you really need to put your own opinion aside and step into the shoes of who will actually be wearing the watch!
Think about their day to day style, their passions, are they out all night or a life maximiser? Ask yourself these questions and you should be able to build a picture of which watch will fit into their life best.
And remember, we offer free shipping along with free exchanges and UK returns should you not get it completely right. So no need to worry.
4.) How to get the right size but still make it a surprise?
If you go for a metal bracelet, it can be difficult to get the perfect wrist strap size while avoiding ruining the surprise. Instead, choose our non-adjusted watch strap which allows the receiver to go to a local jeweller and have it adjusted for the perfect fit. That way if they like their watch a little loose or want a snug fit there is the ability to do so.
If you are really set on giving them a particular size strap, whichever you choose, we will always send you any links we removed so you can add them in later if you need.
5.) Colour combinations
Just when you think you’ve found the one, you now need to think about the colour combinations.
Really it is quite simple. Just go back to thinking about who you’re buying for. Do they have a lot of watches? If that is the case then they would probably appreciate a unique, stand out piece like our British racing green Alpha which is not only eye catching, but super on trend.
If this is going to be their first watch, they will want something classic and timeless. Something they can wear with pride in all situations, to all occasions. Therefore, looking towards a neutral colour palette may be best. Our sunburst blue dials with a stainless-steel bracelet are incredibly popular or our simple black MX10 offers simplicity and clean lines.
